Biblical Predictions Concerning Israel
The Order of Israel’s return was predicted
Isaiah 43:1 Now this is what the Lord says the One who created you, Jacob, and the One who formed you, Israel “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
(Verse 5) Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west.
(Verse 6) I will say to the north: Give them up! and to the south: Do not hold them back! Bring My sons from far away, and My daughters from the ends of the earth -HCSB
Psalm 107:2 Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;
Verse 3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. -HCSB
The first group of Jews that returned to Palestine came primarily from eastern Arab countries. The next major groups of Jewish people came from the western countries of Europe, especially Germany before and after World War II. Then the next group of Jews came in massive numbers from Russia which is north of Israel from 1989 to 2006. The last great migrations of Jews returning to Israel came from Ethiopia in the south. This precise order of return was predicted by Isaiah the prophet.
The lost Language of Hebrew will be restored
Along with the birth of the nation of Israel, the ancient Language of Hebrew has been revived once again. It has now become the official language of the country. Prior to this happening the Jews spoke an impure form of this language Known as Yiddish. The return to a pure common language was again predicted by the prophets. This is also remarkable when you take into account all the nations and languages that the Jewish people were called from. Not every Jew spoke Yiddish.
Zephaniah 3:9 For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.
(Verse 10) From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia my suppliants, even the daughter of my dispersed, shall bring mine offering. -KJV
The whole chapter of Zephaniah identifies this people as Israel and talks about a restoration of the nation. Notice verse 14 and Verse 20
(Verse14) Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
(Verse 20) At that time will I bring you again, even in the time that I gather you: for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth, when I turn back your captivity before your eyes, saith the Lord. -KJV
Israel will be restored. Pools of water will spring forth in the desert. Israel will blossom
For almost 2,000 years the deserts of Israel remained barren waste lands. The restoration of the agriculture and of the trees Has been remarkable. The forests of Israel have been restored. Almost 80 years ago the land was a desolate waste. It was full of malarial swamps and deserts.
Isaiah 41: 8 But you, Israel, My servant Jacob, whom I have chosen descendant of Abraham My friend
(Verse 9) I brought you from the ends of the earth and called you from its farthest corners. I said to you: You are My servant; I have chosen you and not rejected you.
(Verse 10) Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.
(Verse 11) Be sure that all who are enraged against you will be ashamed and disgraced; those who contend with you will become as nothing and will perish.
(Verse 12) You will look for those who contend with you, but you will not find them. Those who war against you will become absolutely nothing. -HCSB
So here we see that the subject content is the restoration of Israel. Now notice verses 18 through 20
(Verse 18) I will open rivers on the barren heights, and springs in the middle of the plains. I will turn the desert into a pool of water and dry land into springs of water.
(Verse 19) I will plant cedars in the desert, acacias, myrtles, and olive trees. I will put juniper trees in the desert, elms and cypress trees together,
(Verse 20) so that all may see and know, consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, the Holy One of Israel has created it. -HCSB
Israel has planted over 240 million trees. Israel is one of only two countries that entered the 21st century with a large net gain in the number of trees.
Ezekiel 36:34 The desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying desolate in the sight of everyone who passes by.
(Verse 35) Then they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden. The cities that were once ruined, desolate, and destroyed are now fortified and inhabited.’
(Verse 36) Then the nations that remain around you will know that I, Yahweh, have rebuilt what was destroyed and have replanted what was desolate. I, Yahweh, have spoken and I will do it. -HCSB
Israel Will fill the world with fruit
Today the replanted forests of Israel are flourishing throughout the country. The Israeli agricultural production is one of the great wonders of the world. This tiny country called Israel exports quality produce around the world. In 2010, Israel exported fruit and vegetables in the total worth of 2.1 billion USD
Isaiah 27:6 He shall cause them that come of Jacob to take root: Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. -KJV
Israel’s Heritage and the old cities will remain in their exact locations
There are many cities in Israel that bear the ancient names of previous Jewish cities. Some of these that bear their Biblical identification include: Cana, Nazareth, Jericho, Nain, Bethany, Bethlehem, Hebron, Gaza, just to name a few. As the ancient nation of Israel was in the process of being destroyed, Ezekiel predicted that many of the ancient cities would be re-inhabited and they will be re-settled in their exact locations. This is amazing when you consider all the different Islamic groups of people that occupied and lived in parts of Israel for over 1800 years. None of the names of these cities have ever changed.
Ezekiel 36:11And I will multiply upon you man and beast; and they shall increase and bring fruit: and I will settle you after your old estates, and will do better unto you than at your beginnings: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
(Verse 24) For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. -KJV
What Amazes me even more is that Jesus pronounced a curse on at least three cities within the land. These remain in ruins today.
Matthew 11:20 Then He proceeded to denounce the towns where most of His miracles were done, because they did not repent:
21“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented in sackcloth and ashes long ago!
22But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.
23And you, Capernaum, will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to Hades. For if the miracles that were done in you had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until today.
24But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.” -HCSB
Future predictions For Israel
I just brought you 9 very detailed predictions concerning the nation of Israel. Four of these prophecies are in part 1 and five of them are in this part. There are some prophecies that are yet to be fulfilled. When I Consider the accuracy in which prophecy has already been fulfilled and the detail involved. I look at prophecies that deal with Israel’s future with wonder and amazement. All these things will be fulfilled in their season. We should look at some of the future prophetic events that will soon come to pass in Israel.
The Third Temple
Israel will rebuild the temple in Jerusalem and they will begin sacrificing according to the law of Moses once again. The bible speaks of a one world government with a one world ruler. Christians call this man the anti-Christ. He will establish the covenant with Israel for 7 years. During the middle of the 7 year time frame he will stop the sacrifice and proclaim himself to be God from the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem.
This is called the Abomination of Desolation and it is spoken of in the book of Daniel Chapter 9 verse 27. Jesus refers to this event and ties it to his second coming in Mathew 24:15 and Mark 13:14
Mathew 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, –KJV
We will cover this in much more detail when we study the book of Daniel. This means that in order for this to come to pass Israel will need to rebuild the temple. They will need to start sacrificing once again. Now let’s cover some background on the temple. The first temple was built by King Solomon. When it was finished the glory of the Lord came upon the temple.
Centuries later according to the book of Ezekiel, the Glory of the Lord departed from the temple. This is talked about in detail in chapter 10. A little while later the temple was later destroyed by King Nebuchadnezzar from Babylon
When Babylon was conquered by Persia. The Jews were allowed to return to Jerusalem. Zerubbabel rebuilt the temple. Jerusalem was conquered by Rome and Herod is named King of The Jews. The second temple was rebuilt by King Herod in 19 B.C. This was a remodel of Zerubbabel’s temple. It was expanded by 90 feet. The sacrifice system was not interrupted during the course of the reconstruction. Herod’s work is considered a remodel of the second temple. That is why 520 BC to 70 AD is considered the second temple period. In 70 AD the second temple was completely destroyed by Titus from Rome. Only one wall was left standing. We know it today as the wailing wall.
According to biblical prophecy the temple will be rebuilt again and this will be the third temple.
The Temple Institute in Israel was founded in 1987. It is a non-profit educational and religious organization located in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City. The Institute is dedicated with the goal of building a new temple in Jerusalem. Their goal is to do all in their power to bring about the building of the temple in their life time. This will be the third temple. They have been making the furniture and the garments to begin sacrificing according to the law of Moses. Now they have begun fitting the priests for their garments.
Today Israel has just about everything they need to start sacrificing once again. There is another temple that is found in the bible. In Ezekiel chapters 40 to 47 there is a description of yet another temple. This temple will be for a future time when Jesus reigns for 1,000 years. This will be the 4th temple.
The temple institute has stated that it is not going to build the temple from the book of Ezekiel. They said that they are going to reconstruct the second temple from the time of king Herod.
A proper understanding of biblical prophecy is very important. Wrong doctrine typically comes from wrong hermeneutics. The reason why there are so many different beliefs regarding biblical prophecy is because the wrong approach is used and scripture is taken out of context to say something it was never meant to mean in the first place. A wrong interpretation of scripture can be dangerous to ones faith as well. When last day events happen people will completely miss them because of the personal meaning that they placed on the scripture.
It just amazes me when I hear Christians say that Israel becoming a nation again has nothing to do with biblical prophecy. When Christians write books that predict the day of the rapture, and when I see a lot of other teaching that is in error, I am shocked sometimes beyond belief. This happens because all to often Christians insert their own meaning into the biblical text and spiritualize everything in some vague allegoric sense! As we have seen by now, this is not proper bible interpretation.
